Hi everybody!
Thank you so so sooo much to everyone who came out to the BYOC (Bring Your Own Chalice) Kegger last night! My friends and family all know that I’m rarely at a loss for words, but it really is difficult for me to describe just how grateful I am for your friendships and how glad I am that I can share all of this revelry with you. You guys are endlessly wonderful ๐
And what some revelry it was! Here’s a rundown of some of the night’s highlights:
1. Dan very graciously flew down from Ann Arbor just to hang out with me and come to this party! Thanks buddy, it wouldn’t have been possible with out your (and your free labor ๐
2. Gracie’s cheese creation got demolished in like, 90 seconds. Oh my God that cheese was so good thank you Gracie ๐ง
3. Dylan won the 20-man Easter Egg cracking competition! Congratulations on your upcoming year of luck ๐ Not pictured: 19 incoming days of egg salad sandwiches.
4. At 1:43 AM, EDT, elevation 43’6″ above mean sea level, tapering winds from the southeast, partially obscured moonlight from a yellow 3/4 waxing gibbous, the valiant efforts of a determined team of imbibers paid off when the last drop of beer was relinquished from the keg. Congratulations to the members of our expeditionary force, and the extraordinary leadership of Mike and Eric! Your steins have plumbed depths never before seen by mortal men, and our exploits shall be known for decades on!
5. Many thanks to Cat for the wonderful gifts of “This Much Country” by Kristin Knight Pace, and the Glacier National Park trail topo maps! They will come in handy when I inevitably get lost, and when I find myself wandering to your group’s campsite ’round dinnertime ๐ See you out there this July!
6. Everyone seemed to appreciate the exacting levels of jank Dan and I designed and built into our house-special beer pong table/door:
7. Thank you soooo much Liz for the air freshener and all of the well wishes on it from everyone, oh my God this was such a wonderful and thoughtful gift! I’m really going to love having a piece of you all right there with me over these next 15,000 miles ๐๐๐
You guys really are the best. Since I left home, I’ve never lived somewhere long enough to make enough friends to justify getting a keg. But now I do, and that’s how I know Virginia is my home now, because all of you are here in it ๐
Stay well everyone! See you all again in September!
Your friend,
Evan
